All calculator outputs are retrospective estimates based on population-level data from 50,000 pets and 210,000 claims. Your individual experience will vary based on your pet's actual health events, your specific policy terms, your insurer's reimbursement practices, and factors not captured by this tool. The calculator uses industry-average premiums from NAPHIA — your actual premium may be higher or lower.

Policy Assumptions

Unless otherwise stated, calculations assume: $500 annual deductible, 80% reimbursement rate, $15,000 annual limit, accident and illness coverage only (no wellness rider). Your actual policy terms may differ significantly.

Data Sources

Primary dataset: 50,000 pets, 210,235 claims (2018–2020), from a publicly available research dataset. Industry baselines from the NAPHIA 2024 State of the Industry Report. Breed-specific claim frequencies are derived from published veterinary research. We make no guarantee that the data is complete, current, or representative of your specific pet or insurer.
